Boho Down Under epitomizes the Eclectics philosophy of mixed textiles in quilting while expanding our "crayon box" a little further by taking on BOHO style embroidery. The focus fabric we used was designed by Kathy Doughty for Free Spirit fabrics. It is called Wind Power. The whole fabric line has a rather exotic Aussie feel to it and, as is often the case, the fabric speaks loudly in this version of the pattern. Consider other strong graphic fabrics as the focal point in this design. BOHO stitching added to florals or graphic patterns can be equally exciting to play with. It is all about combining texture, color and contrast. The approach to the added embroidery is the same as with any other Eclectic component; by playing with different stitchs and combining weights and textures of thread another level of detail and interest can be realized.
The pattern includes placement and stitching guidelines for the stitches used on the project sample.
